Description

The spice nutmeg comes from the Myristica fragrans – it is the seed of an evergreen tree indigenous to Indonesia. The first harvest of nutmeg trees takes place 7–9 years after planting, and the trees reach full production after 20 years. Nutmeg is usually used in powdered form. Nutmeg is incredibly versatile, and adds a warm, nutty, holiday-spice flavor when added to your cooking. Тhe best cooking often includes a hint of a contrasting flavor to bring out the main seasonings more clearly – nutmeg works perfectly for that.
In Indian cuisine, nutmeg is used in many sweet as well as savoury dishes. In originally European cuisine, nutmeg is used especially in potato dishes and in processed meat products.
