Organic Raw Almond. Locally grown in Bulgaria, Karnobat
The almond (Prunus dulcis) is a species of tree is native to the Mediterranean climate region of the Middle East. Domesticated almonds appear in the Early Bronze Age (3000–2000 BC) or possibly a little earlier. Another well-known archaeological example of the almond is the fruit found in Tutankhamun's tomb in Egypt (c. 1325 BC), probably imported from the Levant.
Spain has now one of the most diverse commercial cultivars of almonds. It is grown in Catalonia, Valencia, Murcia, the Balearic Islands, Andalusia, and Aragon regions.
Almonds are exceptionally nutrient dense food. Like every nut, they are very rich source of protein - one serving contains 7.62 g of protein. For comparison, a typical egg contains only 5.54 g of protein. They are also an excellent source of monounsaturated fat - the same type of fat found in olive oil that has positive health benefits. Rich in dietary fiber (second best after cerials), B vitamins, essential minerals such as magnesium, copper, manganese, calcium, and potassium. Almonds also contain polyphenols in their skins consisting in a combination of flavonols, flavan-3-ols, hydroxybenzoic acids and flavanones - analogous to those of certain fruits and vegetables.
Use:
Soak overnight before consumption. Eat as a healthy snack on their own, or use it as a delicious additive to your cereal, fruit or vegetable salad, to make almond milk, raw or baked desserts.
