Organic Linseed
Flax is one of the oldest cultivated crops, having been grown since the beginning of civilization. Flax seed has become a popular healthy supplement due to its high levels of omega-3 fatty acids, lignans and dietary fiber. Studies have shown that flax seeds may lower cholesterol levels, lessen the severity of diabetes and help protect against cancer and heart disease.
Flax seeds are a good source of magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, vitamin E, vitamin B1 and vitamin B6.
The suggested dose is 1-2 tablespoons daily. Pregnant women should not supplement their diets with flax seed. Store ground flax seeds in cool and dry place for up to a week.
Substituting Eggs:
Substitute a 1:3 proportion of ground flax seed and water mixture for eggs in recipes such as pancakes, muffins and cookies. Use 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of ground flax plus 3 tablespoons (45 ml) of water for each egg. Let this 1:3 combination sit for several minutes together before adding to your recipe.
