Turmeric is a herbaceous plant that grows in the forests of South and Southeast Asia. Used for centuries in traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine, turmeric is known today mostly as a spice. In Europe, during the Middle Ages it was even popular as an affordable substitute for saffron.

How to use:

Very suitable for seasoning a number of dishes from the Asian cuisine. Turmeric can be used as a natural coloring agent for sauces and bakery products - gives a nice yellow color.
