At Trevarno Organic Skincare we are proud to be the first and longest established organic skin care manufacturer certified by the Organic Farmers and Growers which is one of the UK's largest organic certification bodies approved by DEFRA. All our Organic Skincare products are subject to a rigorous certification process every year, this ensures you get the very best organic products.
Plus we offer the assurance that our natural and organic skin care products do not contain any parabens, synthetics, detergents, harsh chemicals nor are they tested on animals and are suitable for vegetarians.
Inspired by the beautiful Cornish estate and gardens where the products are handmade using traditional production methods in small batches. We use only the highest grade natural and organic ingredients, so a little goes a long way.
We regard the use of our natural and organic handmade, detergent free, soaps as the basis of good skin care. Each soap is designed to leave a moisturising layer on your skin without stripping away your body’s own natural oils as you wash and cleanse. Many substances that come into contact with the skin can pass into the bloodstream in a similar way that a nicotine patch releases its chemicals into the body and it is now thought that a number of common skin complaints such as eczema and psoriasis can be aggravated by the synthetic chemicals found in modern soaps and shampoos.
All Trevarno natural and organic soaps use the very best plant extracts available, in our own recipes, which have been refined and optimised for their skin care qualities. To ensure that our soaps are the purest and most natural available, we do not use preservatives, stabilisers, artificial colouring or other E numbers. The only ingredients added to the natural soap are ground herbs, pure vegetable oils such as extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil and jojoba oil and essential oils of the finest quality.
We are very proud of our certified range of organic soaps, these also compliment many of our organic ointments ensuring a pure cleansing and moisturising experience, Calendula soap and Calendula ointment, Camomile, Propolis and Gardeners Hand Salve all of which are aimed at helping relieve various skin ailments. …the basics.
The ingredients used to make the base of our soaps are Extra Virgin Olive oil, Palm oil, Coconut oil and Cocoa Butter. These oils are combined and included in each soap because of their excellent skin care qualities and the deep cleansing properties they offer. This combination also produces a long lasting creamy lather bar which can be used down to the very last sliver.,br
Extra virgin olive oil was chosen as it provides an excellent base for infused herbal oils. It is also rich in vitamins, minerals and proteins and has superb emollient qualities.
Coconut oil is one of the most important ingredients for soapmakers as it produces natural creamy bubbles. It is obtained from the pressing of coconuts, the fruit of the palm tree and is an excellent emollient.
Cocoa Butter contributes to the hardness of the soap and is one of the finest moisturisers, coating the skin with a fine film, hence diminishing water loss and softening and protecting skin.

Palm oil is used to its best advantage in combination with Coconut or Olive oil and produces a hard, long lasting bar of soap. We know there has been a lot of press regarding Palm oil production recently and wanted to clarify that we do not buy our Palm from an unethical source; Trevarno Skincare feel very strongly about this subject and are committed to using ethical sources from Malaysia who are dedicated not to devastate areas but use sustainable development plantations.
The moisturising layer or ‘superfat’ in our soaps includes herbs such as Lavender, Cinnamon, Rosehip, Camomile, Calendula and essential oils such as Bergamot, Patchouli and Sweet Orange which are mixed with vegetable oils such as Jojoba, Sunflower, Avocado, Coconut, Olive and Cocoa Butter. Each soap contains its own individual blend which is targeted towards various skin types and conditions. The ingredients contained in our natural and organic soaps are all food grade so are good enough to eat!

The gardens
The Jewel in the crown, at the heart of the estate 70 acres of enchanting gardens and grounds featuring one of Cornwall's largest and most diverse plant collections set within magnificent formal, informal and woodland areas.
The gardens include numerous specimen shrubs and trees , a stunning bluebell valley, ornamental lake with picturesque Victorian Boathouse and formal cascade, Sunken Italian Garden, Serpentine Yew Tunnel, extensive Pinetum, Bamboo collection, atmospheric Rockery and Grotto, the Great Lawn and Summer Terrace and many other interesting features.
How we are working with our natural environmental
Throughout the garden and estate we have a variety of environments.
The RSPB have carried out a survey of the bird life on the estate. The survey showed that the estate provides for species which are considered to be of high conservation concern such as Song Thrush, Linnet, Skylark and Bullfinch. On the estate we have had kingfisher, red kite and lesser spotted woodpecker.
Around the estate buildings and woods we have a rich variety of bats in roosts. In the early evening some varieties can be seen and heard hawking over the lake.
On the estate we have found evidence of otter in the mill pond and lake, badgers have established setts throughout the estate and we have rich populations of small mammals.
Throughout the garden we are now stacking logs and make brash piles so that small mammals, birds and invertebrates have a greater choice to establish and grow.
